The Yang Sing Restaurant is a Manchester institution. When the owners decided to open a boutique hotel they chose  a 120 year old, Grade II listed former cotton dyeing warehouse and began transforming it into the Yang Sing Oriental.

To add to the building’s unique features, this high end boutique hotel has been given a classic 1930s Shanghai opulence, inspired by the cultures of Japan, China, India and Thailand.

After designing the logo, I developed the butterfly design after discovering The Butterfly Lovers, a classic Chinese love story similar to Romeo and Juliet in which, in the end the two lovers end up together forever as butterflies, this was used throughout the hotel.
